Selected Memories, Vol. 2: 15 Years of Creative Nonfiction from Hippocampus Magazine

$20.00

Celebrating 15 years of creative nonfiction. Commemorating a milestone moment.

In 2026, Hippocampus Magazine celebrated 15 years of publishing creative nonfiction. Since our first issue, we’ve been proud to amplify so many voices, so many truths. These scores of writers — and hundreds of personal essays and flash pieces — have captured the hearts of readers and garnered attention throughout the literary world and beyond. Many of our past contributors are now published memoirists, essayists, and novelists. Others lead literary magazines and organizations. We’re honored to be part of their creative journeys.

In 2016, we published Selected Memories, an anthology commemorating our first five years; we’re an online journal, but we wanted something special — tangible — to mark that milestone. Now, a decade later, comes a second print volume. This brilliant collection shines a light on some of our favorite work from the past 10 years — and features 30+ writers who explore the depths of the human experience.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
“Selected Memories: Vol. 2 celebrates the wide range of voices and literary styles — and the remarkable diversity of human experiences — that have found a home in Hippocampus Magazine over the past decade. This valuable collection demonstrates the grip and power of true stories and highlights the dedicated vision of the Hippocampus editors. A truly outstanding anthology.”
—Dinty W. Moore, editor of Brevity

“In an era of lies, this book holds personal and deeply considered truth. Each impressive essay offers an individual author’s complex and vulnerable humanity.”
—Sonya Huber, author of Supremely Tiny Acts: A Memoir in a Day and Pain Woman Takes Your Keys and Other Essays from a Nervous System, among others

“This collection features a rich chorus of voices—thoughtful, searching, transforming memory into meaning—exactly the kind of deeply felt, sincere explorations Hippocampus has excelled at bringing readers in its 15 years. You'll find some familiar names here, and likely some new favorites, too.”
— Hattie Fletcher, co-founder and editor of Short Reads
